Depending on the financial situation you are in (which can change from season to season) by theeee way!... May have you putting off much needed family time, personal space or romantic time with the significant other. It doesn't have to be that way. I have successfully traveled the world through many different seasons of financial despair or otherwise. It really comes down to the planning. I do not mean to make it sound easy. Sometimes just a night in a hotel in Cincy (we live in Dayton) might be just the getaway we need. What I am saying is, if you have some time to plan I have some options for you. If you need a last min getaway, I have some options for you! Hear me out :)
For larger families, with kids, look into booking a cruise! Carnival is my favorite if the kiddos are tagging along. You have the option of paying up front or they do have a basic credit option where you can make monthly installments. Downside, you are paying for the cruise months after you are back at your desk, wishing harm on your co-workers, needing another vaca! eek! BTW, the cruise lines used to let you book your cruise months in advance and give you time to pay it off prior to cruising. MAKES MORE SENSE! I'm going to research that and get back to ya'll! Stay tuned!
Another thing to consider is a vaca savings account. I know is sounds nerdy but hear me out. Most financial institutions will allow you to open an account through your app., you get set up an auto deposit on pay day. It can be $25 or $200. Calculate where you want to go and how much it will cost and break it down. Best part about this option is you are not emptying your savings or going into debt. I bank with Chase and have opened up Mutiple "VACA" accounts with no problem.
If you are the responsible one (NOT IT) a travel reward credit card is for you. You charge all of your daily/monthly expenses on the card, you pay it off every month with no interest and you collect all of the points, turn them in for plane tickets, usually and are very happy! Many of us cannot do this option and that is ok. Self-awareness is key my loves! lol
If the budget is tight and you just need a night away, (I am the queen at this - email for ideas!) sometimes a cute hotel room for the night in the closest, biggest city, a nice band, a quaint bar and some good food can be what is needed.
signing up for sites like choicehotels.com; Marriot.com and Priceline.com, can really save you some money! You can earn points as you book for future stays.
There are a lot of options out there for a lot of different budgets, but I really challenge you to make vacations a priority.
You leave this earth with your memories not your belongings. Cheers!
